Synopsis

OUT OF CONTROL Since she lost her company, Power Girl needs money to fund her legal case to reclaim Starr Industries. Unfortunately, without Starr behind her, rare-earths are harder to monetize, and so she turns to harvesting diamonds from the sea bed off the coast of Namibia. After gathering a decent cache, she heads for Amsterdam to sell them.  After returning to New York, Karen explains to her friend Helena that she has a chance of getting Starr Industries back, so long as DeSaad stays gone. Helena is skeptical, noting that with Karen's powers on the fritz, she can't exactly be everywhere. DeSaad may return - and if he does, there won't be much lawyers can do about it. To prove that her powers are doing much better, Karen sweeps Helena up in an impromptu flight over Central Park, only to have it end with an abrupt crash landing.   Later, Karen attends a meeting with her lawyers, where she learns that they have filed with the SEC to set aside Holt Industries' fraudulent takeover of Starr, but the date for the hearing hasn't been set yet. In her increasing frustration, Karen's heat vision triggers suddenly and uncontrollably.   Later, during a frustrating conference with her corporate lawyers as Karen Starr, her heat vision triggers and runs out of control. Wigh her hands over her eyes, Irv escorts her from the office. He is concerned about what exploded, but does not realize that she is the cause, even as the fire spreads with them to the outer office. Shrugging him off, she makes it to a stairwell and flies to the roof of the building. Quickly, she slaps her palms over her eyes, and her employees assume that it was some kind of explosion, helpfully escorting her to safety. Even more frustrated now, Karen begs for these problems to stop.   Meanwhile, Helena enjoys and espresso and an éclair at a local café, inwardly worrying over Karen's out-of-control abilities. From her patio seat, she witnesses a girl attempting to pickpocket a passerby, and thwarts the would-be crime by flicking her fork into the girl's arm. Heading back toward the park, Helena decides that whatever is happening to Karen is beyond their skills to fix, and maybe they just need to go to daddy - or the the nearest thing to him. After finally getting her heat vision to calm itself, Karen comes to a similar conclusion, and decides to seek out this world's Superman.   That evening, Helena stakes out Wayne Manor outside Gotham City, struggling to decide how she should approach this world's version of Batman. After some deliberation, she decides that the best bet is to enter via the Batcave. As she fumbles her way in through an exterior entrance, Batman watches her progress, and covertly allows her to bypass his security measures. Once inside, she muses that her father was much older than this world's Batman is, and it may look more like home after some time has passed. Her exploration is abruptly interrupted by Batman himself, who demands to know who she is. Without introducing herself, she apologizes for the intrusion, insisting that she needs his help. As she approaches him, though, she triggers a device that traps her in a holding cage, and as it closes, Batman suggests that now she can explain herself.
